OREGON TRAIL
Is a 2,170-mile historic East–West, large-wheeled wagon route connected the Missouri River to valleys in Oregon. Independence Rock, Wyoming became one of the most famous of all Oregon Trail landmarks. The giant piece of granite is 1,900 feet long, 700 feet wide, and 128 feet high. The landmark was a favorite resting place for travelers along the trail carving names and dates in the rock. Arriving here prior to the 4th of July predicted a snow free travel through the Rocky Mountain passes. Climbed up on Independence rock a few times... the rabbits running around up on top and a beautiful view!!
